Baby car seats are a must for a new parent. From the time you bring you r loved one home from the hospital until they are about 4 years old, you will be using a car seat.
Car seats are required by most states for children under a certain age or weight limit. This is for their own safety. It is a well known fact that if a child is in the vehicle when a collision occurs, the safest place for them is in a car seat.
If a child is not in a car seat when a collision occurs the potential for serious or life threatening injuries is a very strong possibility. Car seats do no good if the child is not fastened securely inside of it. There are typically belts that come from behind the child and down to fasten in between the leg area. Be sure that all straps are set so that the child is held snuggly against the back of the seat.
If you have them strapped in but the straps are very loose, they may be able to wiggle out of the seat while you are driving. That creates an even more dangerous situation. You may need to try to correct the child or get them sitting down while you are driving. This takes your eyes off of the road and creates a potential of an accident occurring.
