Care must be taken while buying the correct battery charger that will ensure a prolonged life. There are many rules one must follow while buying a battery charger for the laptop which can be very beneficial for you in the long run. A typical battery charger can manage NiMH and also NiCad batteries. A NiMH charger in general works well with NiCad cells but the same does not work vice versa. Generally all battery chargers are supposed to operate along with batteries. An average battery charger works four to six batteries. However, keeping aside an extra pair of batteries charged is an intelligent option.

A charger is motorized with the help of an AC outlet. There are small units which are plugged in the outlet making these extremely comfortable to work daily. These battery chargers work well with 100 and 200 volt outlets and do not require an adapter. These are made keeping in mind about travelers. However, cheaper batteries do require certain external converter which is like a power brick that assists in moving the electricity to the charger with the help of a power cord. These are easily affordable but not very easy to use.
